Cavan County Council has commenced work on the preparation of Town and Village Revitalisation Plans for the following Towns and Villages throughout the County.

Cavan Town, Virginia, Bailieborough, Ballyjamesduff, Cootehill, Kingscourt, Belturbet, Mullagh, Ballyconnell, Ballinagh, Ballyhaise, Shercock, Killeshandra, Arva, Kilnaleck, Swanlinbar, Butlersbridge, Blacklion, Lough Gowna, Dowra.

The aim of the plans is to propose improvements, which will enhance these towns and villages as attractive places in which to live and work. The plans, when complete, will also propose a range of projects which could be implemented over the short medium and long term.

We would like to get community input into the Town and Village Revitalisation Plans and to facilitate this consultation sessions will be held as set out below:

Minister Ring announces €190 Million SICAP Programme for Deprived and Marginalised Communities

The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Mr Michael Ring TD, on Friday 20th April, 2018 announced a major investment by the Government to tackle disadvantage in Ireland. The Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP), which is overseen by the Department of Rural and Community Development, will provide €190 million over five years (2018-2022) to support the most disadvantaged individuals and communities in our society.

Every Move You Make – Thursday 17th May 2018

The play follows the ups and downs of a young woman’s relationship as it goes from being near perfect to becoming an impossible nightmare. The production explores the issue of abusive relationships among young people. It was developed in consultation with the Youth Action NI Safe and Sound Project, NSPCC and pupils at Oakgrove Integrated College in 2012.

Conversational Irish evening Wed 2nd May 8-9.30pm, Blacklion

This new venture is to provide a fun, engaging and enjoyable way to practice, brush up or learn Irish in a relaxed and friendly way. The evenings will be an informal format and will cater for all levels and beginners as well. The evenings will concentrate on developing everyday conversational skills rather than grammar.
